Angry woman

black-woman-confusedhurt.jpg (473×420)

Now you did it
Tried to take me and tear me in two
Tried to make me feel "inferior"
But instead you've awoken my fury
Brought out the angry woman
Who had once lain dormant

See, before you
She was content to only come out
When I needed to be avenged
Or just reminded of the struggles of the past
But now she wide awake
And you... Silly you
You have decided to be in the direct path
The direct path of her rage

Didn't you know that she would come out?
Didn't you realize that she was just
Biding her time until you slipped up?
Now I can't tell her to go back to sleep
And I don't think that I want to

Because within that glorious rage
That only comes when she's awake
I can finally find the courage
The courage to say: "Enough is enough
I will not be that fool again."
Letting you toy with my heart
Making me feel incomplete
Inadequate, undone.

Because no I'm angry
I'm indignant!
To think that I let you
You... Have that kind of control.
My heart has bled
My soul almost hemorrhaged
And I was almost completely damaged
But then she woke up
And I became an angry woman.

So this angry woman
Has something to say to you.
" I'm done... with you.
I'm utterly and completely through."
Best believe I'm done
And I won't be coming back.
Because see
She reminded me that
I am more important than this relationship
I am the one that needs to keep my head up.

Because by divine decree
I've been set for greatness
Greatness in love.
A love that is all encompassing
A love that goes deeper than lust
Farther than the physical
I'm destined for happiness.

But the only to do that
Is to let you see
You don't control me.
And even though I'm angry
I don't want to stay angry.

But for now
I'm gonna let that angry woman
Stay wide awake and alert
Because she reminds me to guard my heart
And for that I'll stay angry
Because I know
I deserve a fighting chance.

And I will fight you for it
And until I'm fully free
Angry I'll stay,
Angry I'll be.

To The Least of These...

You fell…
I looked out to you
Trying to decide

“Should I go to you,
Make myself a ridicule
Just so I can help you?”
Those around me…
Looked on in contempt
Thinking that they were
Of a superior metal
Unable to bend…
To give a helping hand.
They jeered, you coward.
I stood in indecision
For only a moment.
The moment was long enough
Enough to help me to see.
What if it was me?
Would I expect a helping hand?
Would I wish or someone… anyone
To give me a moment of their time?
Without further hesitation
I gave you my hand
Offered you a smile
Then went my way,
Thinking nothing more of it.
How was I to know?
How could I have seen?
Known that because of one like you
Salvation I might find.

And again…
There you were
Around you the crowd was… laughing
They jeered and they mocked you
There was no one around
No body there to defend you.
I stood off to the side… thinking
“What am I gonna do?
Do I follow the status quo
And make myself “one of the masses”
Or do I, walking the path less taken
Do I take that moment
And come to your aid?

Wouldn’t I expect the same?”
I stopped… had to think.
What am I gonna do?
Too many voices
Talking too loudly.
Trying to convince me to…
Just let it be.
But I couldn’t just leave you there.
Something inside said…
“ Go… Help…”
So I did… one more time…

Time, the end of time.
The end was here and I
Finding myself before The One
And recognizing just His Eyes, said:
“Lord, I’m not worthy.
To be allowed into your glory.
Never having been one to talk out
Be the center of attention
I feel I did so little…”
He smiled.
Those eyes lit up.
“Oh but don’t you remember
Those times your gave me your help
Gave me a smile and a hand of support”
Surprised… I thought:
But when did I ever see You to do it?
To my unspoken query
He replied;
“Did you not help a fall one
To get back on her feet when others
Just… passed her by?
“… Yes.” I replied. “But…”
“Did you not stand up for him
When others mocked and jeered.
Did you not stand for that helpless one?”
Startle, again.. “Yes,” I said.
With the tenderness that
Only one who understood
Could give to one who needed understanding
He put His arms around me,
Ushering me into glory.
He whispered in my ear
“You belong here.
Because  you did it for Me.
Don’t you remember the teaching?
If you did this to the least of these…
You did it unto me.”

I Am Blessed

I Am Blessed.
My life has been touched
Touched by the essence of heaven
Wrapped in the ever lasting love.

I Am Blessed.
Blessed by the Omnipresent
Favored by the Ominiscient
Given blessing to overflowing.

I Am Blessed.
Given the history of what has been
Gifted with the understanding of what is
And bestowed with the knowledge of what is to come.

I Am Blessed.
Highly favored in His eyes
Consecrated by His singular sacrifice.
Hallowed by His eternal gift.

I Am Blessed.
Set apart before birth
Chosen by Him for greatness
Anointed in His cleansing flow.

I Am Blessed.
As I awoke this morning.
As i moved throughout the day
And now as I lay me to sleep at night.

I Am Blessed.
I Am Blessed.
I Am Blessed.
Oh, so very blessed.

Just saying...

Hey you.
Yes you.
Give me a break.
Stop try'na make me see you.
Trust me,
I see you.
Doing what you do.
You give me a head ache.
Making so much noise,
And wanting all my attention.
I'm looking at you.
I've noticed what you do.
I understand, see?
But you?
You are making me insane.
Runnin' around
Tryin to get the world to "see you".
Are you kidding me?
Do you really think that
All that motion and commotion
Will really get you anywhere
If you don't have a set destination?
Stop for a second.
Take a look around.
The world around you
Doesn't need more noise.
It needs silence
So that the sound of life
Can come through more easily.
Do you see what I'm saying?
I'm just saying that you
Flailing and flapping
Jumpin and jivin'
Won't make much of a difference
Unless you focus.
Because trust
I see you
And with a little finesse
The world will see you too.
So do me a favor
Quiet down a little bit.
Just because you're making noise
Doesn't mean you're saying anything.
Take a minute to think
Do us all a favor and try
Please use your head.
Don't waste our time.
We are waiting
For you to shine.
So like I said.
With a little bit of grace
You'll do fine.
But for the good of all mankind
Do not waste my time.
I'm just saying.

I Am Woman

I will not be oppressed.
Look at you
Try'na figure out my bra size
The shape of my hips
And if I'll let you between my thighs
I'm more than that.

The struggle of the "man"
Has always been documented
All the pain supplemented
By the knowledge that you
Will get your remunerations.

But woman continues to be oppressed.
Looked over for the best job
The hottest spot
And asked to "put out" to get what she wants.
But I refuse to be of that statistic
One more colored woman just about to miss it.

Don't try to tell me that I've got it made
"Find a good man live in the shade"
But what if I want to be independent?
Will you still look at me in a demeaning way?
Tell me that, "Girl, in the house is where you should stay"?

The divas before me paved the way
They said it was okay
To want to prove myself
To extend my wings and fly.

I will not be denied
Even though I may be considered
A second class citizen
I will prove my worth and leave no question
That like Dr. Maya Angelou said
"Still I rise."

Rise above the oppression
Above the proclamation that being female
I am inadequate
Above the innuendo and defamation
That the world throws my way.

I will never be less
I will always be more
For the power I possess
Many want... but none can store.
Don't tell me I can't do do it
And don't put boundaries to my climb.

Just because I'm a woman
Doesn't mean that I'm weak
It just means that my strength
It just comes from way, way deep.

So woman lift your head
walk about strong and proud
Don't allow those out there
To bring you down

Remember that you are the jewel
You hold the prize
And you are truly amazing
In God's loving eyes.

I am woman.
I won't be oppressed
I won't be denied.

Y Fue Asi

Y fue asi
Cuando tocaste mi corazón
La electricidad que corrió
Fue como la sangre que fluye por mis venas
Y me hace vivir.

Fue tan real
El toque de tus palabras
En este ser sediento
Como espera la tierra la lluvia
Para revivir lo que esta casi muerto.

Y fue asi
En lo que senti
Tu esencia me lleno
De manera que nada mas importaba
Y solo tu eras real.

All that You Are

All I needed was one moment

One moment to take in you essence

To learn why you are as you are.

How can I measure the parts of you that

Being so innately you

Cause my heart to leap and skip for joy?

I cannot, for all the time under the heavens

Take back the moment that you,

Being just as you are,

Crept into that spot in my heart

That was made in the shape of you.

The moment I realized that,

Because you are as you are,

You took me by surprise

Engulfing me in new sensations I’ve never felt

Was the moment that my heart beat anew,

Falling into the syncopation that matched so perfectly

That beating that is who you are.

And even now as I,

Knowing entirely the truth of you,

Put my ear to your chest

To listen to that firm beating that I so dearly love,

I can’t help but marvel

As one may do with a new child,

How wondrous this feeling is.

The feeling that knowing you,

And what is essentially you,

I have been given the gift I so longed for,

The one that I held out for.

And as that moment of understanding dawns

And I am once again allowed to be near you

I see what you are, I understand it

And I know that what you are,

All that you are,

Is what I need, and what I want.

And I no longer search anymore.

Rhythm in Me

I breathe
My breath catches in my chest
My heart beats the rhythm
The Rhythm with in me
The one that moves me.

The pulse of life flows
Movin' me in the direction
The direction of true livin'
And when as my blood flows
The Rhythm shakes me
Sends me to motion.

The ebb and flow
The come and go
The movement that connects
That makes my body sway
To the Rhythm within
The ticky tock of life.

The rhythm moves me
Connects with the world
Movin' in the syncopation
The articulation of emotion
That sways me into the flow
To the rhythm of life.

Just Breathe...

Take a moment
Close your eyes
Inhale deeply
Just breathe...

Around you the world is moving,
You need to just stand still
Take a second to contemplate
Just breathe...

Too many moments
May pass you by
If you don't stop in your tracks
Just breathe...

Know that if you're moving
Too quickly to see
That you're life is leaving you need to
Just breathe...

So take a moment
Take an eternity if you must
But stop long enough to
Just... Breathe.

Even if...

Even if time were to stop
And begin to turn backwards
Giving me a glimpse of all the things
I should have seen before
And give me a chance
To change things that might have hurt
And get a do over on others
Would I change anything?
Would I take the opposite route?
Would I make a different choice?

And when I were given a chance
To relive certain moments in my life
And to do something different,
And to move in a different path
Would I move more cautiously?
Would I change my mind?
Would I make a different choice?

Even if time would turn around.
Even if I could start over
I'd do things the same way
Make the same choices again.

I'd give my heart
I'd love as deeply
I'd go the same path
I'd walk the same distance.
And even though
Changing things might be better
I wouldn't change a thing.
Because being who I am is better
Even if there is pain.

Sometimes

Sometimes I feel
As I look around this place
That things could be different
And I could be changed.

And sometimes I search
Looking for the truth
For it to be apparent to me
And I can't be sure that it is.

Sometimes I try
To Capture the gift given
Not taking it for granted
And knowing how to appreciate it.

Sometimes I delve
Deeply into my soul
Wondering who I am
And why I should even be here.

Sometimes I yearn
For those things left behind
For the touch almost forgotten
And for joy to prevail once again.

And then sometimes
I just sit alone
Wondering where life will take me
And if I'll be prepared to handle it.

Second Chances

Second chances are
Like a kiss of the breeze
Like a note of acceptance.

Second chances are
Like a glance from the side
Like a moment of repentance.

Second chances are
Like taking another breath
Like re-entering the dance.

Second chances are
Like finally being bold
Like realizing your relevance.

Second chances are
The bright spot of my day
The moment of nuance.

Second chances are
The sad smile on your lips
The gift of allowance.

Second chances are
My full discretion speech
My time of brilliance.

Second chances are
A gift not always deserved
A gift of tolerance.

Second chances.
Thank God for them
For what it takes to give them: valiance.

I didn't know

I didn't know.
I didn't know that
My lack of actions could hurt
The one I never would have hurt.

I didn't know.
I didn't know that you
Of all people
Would be holding out for me, when I asked you not to.

I didn't know.
I didn't know that we
Would fall apart at the seams
Never once getting a chance to change things.

I didn't know.
I didn't know that this
Would be the breaking point
In all the things that I held true and dear.

I didn't know.
I didn't know that now
Would be the moment that I
Must learn to let you go, and be free to yourself.

I didn't know.
I didn't know that time
Would become the enemy
I wanted to bring in as a true friend.

I didn't know.
I didn't know that this
Could be as difficult
As giving up a piece of me.

I didn't know.
I didn't know that being
Blind to all things would be
The sin that shattered our world.

I wish I could say
That not knowing
Was what made it all come to pieces.
But knowing is only half the battle.

I didn't know.
I didn't know.
I didn't know.
But I wish, I had...

You Don't Know Me

You don't know me.
I'm a diffr'nt girl than I was.
I'm no longer a girl.
I've become a woman.

You don't know me.
I've changed in so many ways.
I've morphed into something new.
I've become a flower.

You don't know me.
I've taken on so many things
New challenges have been conquered.
I have become a fighter.

You don't know me.
I've walked a million miles.
I've gone the distance and beyond.
I've become a discoverer.

You don't know me.
I've sat in misery and cried.
I've lived the pain of many millenia.
I've become a survivor.

You don't know me.
I've said it before.
And yet you listen.

You listen to my sadness.
You've shared my pain.
You've walked along side of me.
You've held my hand.

I say that you don't know me.
I guess that's not true.
Maybe, just maybe, you do...

Falling...

Falling...
Falling into the memories
Falling into the embrace.

Falling..
What a feeling
Of freeing and fleeing.

Falling...
Taking that first step
Taking the first breath.

Take a deep breath.
Take that first step.
And then you will begin
Falling...

Falling...
Towards the earth,
Towards you.

Falling...
Slowly making my way
Slowly dipping down.

Breathe it all in.
Inhale the sensation.
You are Falling.

Falling...
Oh the rush.
Oh the sensation.

And while falling
Remember that there are arms
Arms to catch you.

So go ahead
Keep on...
Falling...

I'm waiting...

I'm waiting
For the world to turn
And for my life to start.
For all those pieces to come together

I'm waiting
For the right time to come
And for my heart to fall
And for love to enter into this place.

I'm waiting
For you to realize this.
And for you to come
To tell me what your heart already knows.

I'm waiting
For the moon to shine
And for the earth to spin
And for our hearts to finally intertwine.

I'm waiting
For you to notice me
And for all the things you promised
For all the sweet nothings to come true.

I'm waiting
For you to realized that I'm here
And that I make you complete
And that all you need is me.

I'm waiting.
Can't you see me here?
For I continue waiting.
Until the moment you say to me....
"I've been waiting too."

And still...
I'm waiting.
Waiting...
Just for you.

When Shall I know?

Many times I look around
The world is crazy and wild.
How shall I know where?
When can I know how?

Too many things hinder me
They pull me in all directions.
How can I be sure?
When shall I know?

When will I know
The path that You've chosen?
How can I be sure
That this is where You lead me?

When will I see
The plans you have for me?
How can I know
That You are the one who leads me?

When shall I know
The end of my journey?
And how can I see
What you already see in me?

These are my questions,
And I ask you to tell.
When shall I know?
For I am here, waiting.

Who am I

Who am I?
I am strength.
I am energy.
I am the ability to think.
I am goodness, justice, mercy.

In me.
There is all things pure.
All things of good nature.
I am the song that is sung.

Who am I?
I am yet to be finished.
I am the unsung hero.
I am the right one.

I do not cling.
I do not beg.
I take no prisoners,
And ask no questions.
I give no explanations.

I hold close what I love.
I shut out what may harm.
I put my life down for others.
I give back what hasn't been given to me.

Who am I?
I am the air you breath.
I am that which you see.
I am the one who knows.

Who am I?
I am what you see.

Tiempo...

Tiempo
Un momento solo
Un pensamiento electrico.
Buscando esa chispa
Que me ayuda entender.
Tiempo
Algo que necesito
Algo que me deja
Siento...
Si solo tuviera mas
Tiempo.

Pido
Tiempo
Un momento solo.
Un instante
Donde puedo entender
El plan que tienes para mi.

Tiempo.
Esto solo
Pido que me des
Para poder ver
La grandeza de Tus planes.
Tiempo
Para ver
Lo que quieres hacer en mi.

Dame
Tiempo...
Marca mis pasos.
Formame a Tu imagen.
Para que pueda ver
Que es tu plan.
Y atravez
Del tiempo
Vere Tu poder.
Y entonces tendre
Tiempo.

These are my thoughts....

Music
It has filled me
With a longing to know
What lies beyond
Beyond the lines and lyric
What is on the other side?
How can I connect
Not knowing where it came from?
How do I make it mine?
My thoughts bring a song
A song that shows my heart.
Let me show you my heart.
Will you listen to my heartstrings
Playing the melody that is my life?
These are my thoughts.
Thoughts that bring me closer to you.
You who know me so well.
These are my thoughts.
