You fell…
I looked out
to you
Trying to
decide
“Should I go
to you,
Make myself
a ridicule
Just so I
can help you?”
Those around
me…
Looked on in
contempt
Thinking
that they were
Of a
superior metal
Unable to
bend…
To give a
helping hand.
They jeered,
you coward.
I stood in
indecision
For only a
moment.
The moment
was long enough
Enough to
help me to see.
What if it
was me?
Would I
expect a helping hand?
Would I wish
or someone… anyone
To give me a
moment of their time?
Without
further hesitation
I gave you
my hand
Offered you
a smile
Then went my
way,
Thinking
nothing more of it.
How was I to
know?
How could I
have seen?
Known that
because of one like you
Salvation I
might find.
And again…
There you
were
Around you
the crowd was… laughing
They jeered
and they mocked you
There was no
one around
No body
there to defend you.
I stood off
to the side… thinking
“What am I
gonna do?
Do I follow
the status quo
And make
myself “one of the masses”
Or do I,
walking the path less taken
Do I take
that moment
And come to your aid?
Wouldn’t I
expect the same?”
I stopped…
had to think.
What am I
gonna do?
Too many
voices
Talking too
loudly.
Trying to
convince me to…
Just let it
be.
But I
couldn’t just leave you there.
Something
inside said…
“ Go… Help…”
So I did…
one more time…
Time, the
end of time.
The end was
here and I
Finding
myself before The One
And
recognizing just His Eyes, said:
“Lord, I’m
not worthy.
To be
allowed into your glory.
Never having
been one to talk out
Be the
center of attention
I feel I did
so little…”
He smiled.
Those eyes
lit up.
“Oh but
don’t you remember
Those times
your gave me your help
Gave me a
smile and a hand of support”
Surprised… I
thought:
But when did
I ever see You to do it?
To my
unspoken query
He replied;
“Did you not
help a fall one
To get back
on her feet when others
Just… passed
her by?
“… Yes.” I
replied. “But…”
“Did you not
stand up for him
When others
mocked and jeered.
Did you not
stand for that helpless one?”
Startle,
again.. “Yes,” I said.
With the
tenderness that
Only one who
understood
Could give
to one who needed understanding
He put His
arms around me,
Ushering me
into glory.
He whispered
in my ear
“You belong
here.
Because you did it for Me.
Don’t you
remember the teaching?
If you did
this to the least of these…
You did it
unto me.”
